Abstract Paintings

Fourth grade students learned about Vassily Kandinsky, and abstract art.  They looked at Composition VIII, from 1923 and shared their ideas about his work.  They saw so many things in his work!  After reviewing the different kinds of shapes, organic and geometric, students set out to create an abstract painting for themselves.  Students paid careful attention to their composition, and choices to see if they could create an emotional reaction in their viewer.
