KINDERGARTEN ART.

Kindergarten artists begin learning skills that they will use for years to come.
Circles!

To begin the year, kindergarten students have been talking about shapes.  The first shape we focused on was the circle.  After spending a week drawing things that can be made with circles, students learned about collage.  They shared ideas about how to work safely with scissors, and how to take care of our art room scissors.  Then they shared ideas about how to cut circles-you can cut them free hand, draw them first, cut sharp corners off of squares and you can turn the paper while cutting.  Students then spent some time making their own circle collages.  I was so happy to see how careful they were with the scissors, and how nicely they shared papers and glue!
